ITV Chart Show - Indie Chart (25th July 1992)
This chart brought back memories when seeing the band Drop Nineteens. This band was quite unique in that they were an American Shoegazing band. Many shoegazing bands were British, but by 1992, many were slowly fading away.
The Drop Nineteens were mainly bigger in the UK than in America. Shoegazing music didn't really wake America, mainly because America was being swamped by grunge music, which started to crush the shoegazing scene in the UK.
Winona was a brillant track, but later singles didn't really match Winona and the Drop Nineteens never became that successful. Another band on the chart that later had minor Top 40 hits was Pavement, who had brillant names of EP's (Watery Domestic EP - Who could ever name an EP like that !!!) and also songs that are still played on my i-pod !!!
