ITV Chart Show Dance Chart (7th October 1989)
Alot of Dance acts in 1989 came from Italy and produced alot of house music, but there was always exceptions. In this example, it was the group Fresh Four, who did a cover version of Rose Royce's "Wishing on a star". The original version was nice and smooth, but it felt like it needed some beats to it. Fresh Four did the honours and added some hip-hop beats with haunting vocals from another singer, who I haven't got a clue about. Nevertheless, it was a classic and even went in the UK Top Ten Singles Chart.
Fresh Four never released a follow up, but the guys behind it, later on developed the drum 'n' bass scene. I was never a fan of drum 'n' bass, but even hearing Fresh Four, you can understand the influence the group gave to the scene.
Raul Orellana on the other hand was a Spanish house producer, who oddly mixed spanish guitar music with house. At that time, it was a very odd mixture, which surprisingly worked. It worked for me, because I felt like playing air guitar with this tune. Normally air guitar works with rock music, but this was different. Never really heard Raul since then. I'm sure he's in Ibiza playing his guitar all day long !!!!
