ITV Chart Show - Dance Chart (7th December 1991)
This chart is unique for the new graphics shown on the info-boxes, which really didn't last that long (I'm not surprised, I loathed it, because it was too kiddie like !!) Anyway 1991 had some great dance music, including stuff from Bizarre Inc. But one of my all time fav dance tracks was a song, which didn't even have a video. This song was "Ride like a wind", which in this chart had the photograph of the group East Side Beat.
The original version of Ride Like a Wind was done by Christopher Cross in 1980. Saxon also did a cover version of the song in 1988. A great cover version is when they transform an ordinary or boring song to a fantastic brillant cover. East Side Beat just totally changed the song from a boring tune to a great dance song that people could dance to. It was also a massive UK top ten hit in 1991.
East Side Beat were an Italian dance act, who seem to have only had one hit, the ride like a wind song. Never really heard any other materials from them. There have been dance remixes of ride like a wind in the 21st century, but no way beats East Side Beat's version.
