The Chart Show - Rock Chart (8th April 1989)

An interesting note with this chart was the band Wrathchild. Wrathchild were one of the very few UK Glam Metal bands and apparently one of the very few pioneers of the Glam Metal scene, well before the likes of Motley Crue and their American counterparts.

Bruce Dickinson, singer of Iron Maiden, was a fan of theirs. So much so, that he directed the video of their song in this chart. He also makes an appearance in this video as an old lady.

Wrathchild as with many UK Glam Metal bands didn't achieve success compared to their American counterparts. However when the band split up, the bass player later co-founded Bang Bang Machine, which produced the excellent "Geek Love", which I have mentioned on an earlier blog.

Wrathchild were basically one single wonders. They didn't have a hit with their nukklear rokket song, but I still remember the scene of their video when Brucie whacks a member of the band with a sign post. Hmmmmm many records could use abit of a whack on the head with a sign post !!!!
