THE CHART SHOW - Indie Chart (1988 Special)
What a chart !!! Not a single one I would consider musically "indie" apart from New Order, which I would let off !!! Back in the 80's, Indie meant acts that were signed to independent record labels. Unfortunately Pete Waterman acts such as Kylie and Jason were "indie" acts and obviously dominated the indie and national charts.
Before I ever seen this episode, I expected the indie chart in this special edition would consist of the wedding present, sugarcubes, timelords etc.... To my horror, it had Kylie, Jason and worse of all Yazz. Thankfully a year later, The Chart Show got rid of these acts and made it a real indie chart from 1989 until its demise in 1998.
